India receives solar energy equivalent to 5000 trillion kWh a year far more than the total energy consumption of the country in a year. We have been using the energy of the sun every day in many different ways as far back as humans can recall and have existed on this planet. In the 1890’s solar water heaters were being used all over the world. During the 1920’s, large deposits of oil and natural gas were discovered in the western United States. As these low cost fuels became available, solar water systems began to be replaced with heaters burning fossil fuels. |
